A pop-up for you…

Have you tried a pop up card? My friend, Gayla showed off her Pop up books and demonstrated how to make a few pop up cards or books. They looked so fun. I just had to try one. Here is what I came up with.popup-heart

This uses a technique called tilted boxes. Heart shape was drawn on the fold line of the card on the back then you cut out on the lines leaving two parallel lines uncut near the center. so the point is cut out and the petals at the top. Then you make a sharp foldline down the center of the card and gently poke the pop up portion in th eopposite direction. This causes the heart to open toward the card recipient. I stamped the image from the Love you much set on the cut out heart but felt the red card lining was too bland so i stamp the same image on a piece of lavender text weight paper and inserted it between the two layers. I used hand made paper for the mats on front along with a strip of Whisper white with the message embossed in Gold and a strip of gold metallic cardstock. This was fun to do and I have a pop-up in the works using the dress pattern from the large scallop.
