A Stampin Up Sponge Dauber Box or 2…

Have you ever seen or heard of a great idea or product and then couldn’t buy it? Or at least in the configuration you wanted? Yesterday  I saw the coolest concept, a divided box for holding your sponge daubers in . Now my system wasn’t bad. I had labels on the daubers and was storing them in an old clear stamp box from a wood set that got converted to clear mount. But they slid about in the box as you will see , I don’t have a lot. I started out using the sponges and though I have a fairly good inventory of daubers I am just slowly putting them into service and inking them. So I went out to the web site I heard about. And the box was only being sold with all the daubers. It’s a great deal if you don’t have any or many daubers but I have too many for it to be cost effective for me. So I researched and located the manufacturer of the box part – but they were out of stock and had no idea when they would be in stock.

Sigh… and I am impatient at times. Smile So I put on my thinking cape and thought, and thought….

And viola – hour later I had prototype 1 created. All out of Stampin Up materials.

Pretty nifty! And it hold 35 daubers! On a creation high, I called my daughter and downline. And she said, “Write a tutorial!” “ Oh and can you make one big enough to hold all 40 colors plus room for extras?”  So, I did. After reengineering the design – I created one that holds 54 daubers. and the outside looks like this:

My Sponge Dauber Box tutorial has templates and directions for both a Small box holding 35 and a larger one holding 54. All for only $5.00. And you get the fun of creating your tool.Smile

  1. I love your creative idea and am interesting in buying the tutorial but I have one question. Does it include a color chart too?

  3. Very good idea. We can always come up with a solution, when we can’t find it. thanks for sharing. Happy Stamping!!!

  4. I used the stamp boxes that our wood mount stamps come in. In the tutorial, I included directions and templates for 2 sizes and also specify the exact size box used in each. These boxes are also avail separately as a supply item from a Stampin Up Demo is you don’t have an extra from an old stamp set.
