I love the new copper foil and embossing powder – Don’t you? I had the opportunity to use a stamp set that was new in the 2016-7 annual catalog for the first time last week. Flourishing Phrases was used in a class taught by my daughter and upline, Jennifer Blomquist. As I was using it in class.. inspiration struck and I decided to use my new copper embossing powder to heat emboss the flowers and the sentiment. After embossing the flowers , I filled in the outlines with masking fluid and then created my background by smooching Tempting Turquoise, Mint Macaron, and Marina Mist inks on my craft mat. I spritzed them with water and used my water brush to blend them a little then placed my stamped cardstock face down in the ink and moved it about until I liked the background design. Then I gently removed the masking fluid ( oops- I discovered that I didn’t have my masking fluid thick enough in a few spots) and colored in the flowers and leaves with Stampin Write markers in Rose Red, Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum, Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive. I used the copper foil as a mat under the art piece and mounted it on a Rose Red card base. Funny how light affects metallics – the upper left corner of the photo looks gold but the bottom right is definitely copper.

I love paper smooshing – I should do it more often! Thanks for the reminder, oh and for the pretty card with that wonderful copper embossing powder!
I love how the flowers turned out. They are so pretty with copper embossing powder and colored in! You’ll have to show me this card in person. 🙂 And I haven’t ever tried paper smooshing, so we’ll have to play with that too. Thanks for sharing and hopping!
I love your embossed and colored flowers! So pretty!
