Happy Birthday card for Caitlin’s Daddy…

Crafting is a family affair in our household. Every time I go to my daughter’s – my granddaughter asks when we can stamp together. On my latest trip the 3 females had a stamp and card making session with new Stampin’ Up products. Since both her Grandpa and Daddy had birthday’s coming up in the next several days, Caitlin and I had Happy Birthday on our minds. Caitlin and I used the new Birthday Memories Suite while Jennifer used a different stamp set.

Caitlin made her card by doing most of the creation and all of the design work herself. Grandma just had to help make sure the stamps stayed where Caitlin wanted them during the inking process. I like to use my Misti often. It is especially nice when stamping with children. It allows them to design their card by placing the stamps in place on the cardstock. We can rearrange the images until it is how they want and then we close the lid and the stamps are ready for inking. My grandkids frequently stamp in black ink and then color the images with marker.

Both Caitlin and Nicholas love to use the Big Shot and die cut out some of their images. In this card, Caitlin had the card mostly done when she decided to stamp and die cut the poodle, flowers and party hat. And of course being a girl, she just had to add some Happy Birthday bling, hence the silver dazzling details.

As you can see, my card is quieter than Caitlin’s. Both cards carry the same amount of love, but I like my cards to have a clean & simple look. Caitlin believes more is better. I put a little glitz on my card by using Wink of Stella on the cake platter and some Dazzling details in clear on the icing flowers.
