Full Pocket for You to give or receive…

Pretty Full Pocket

Give a Full Pocket of happiness by putting real money in this cute pocket.  You will need the Pocketful of Sunshine stamp set from the Stampin’ Up 2017-18 Annual Catalog.

Creating the card

First I stamped the main pocket on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using Dapper Denim ink.  Still using Dapper Denim I stamped the scalloped pocket detailing. Next I sponged the full pocket with Dapper Denim ink for a soft dusty look. Finishing the denim look I dabbed a rough piece of terrycloth in the ink and tapped it on the stamped pocket which resulted in an uneven texture. Finally, I fussy cut the pocket out just at the edge of the stamped outline.

I wanted my pocket to look like it was on the back of a pair of pants. in order to do this, I cut a piece of Dapper Denim cardstock to 4″ wide by 3.75″ tall. I glued my ‘pants’ onto an A2 side folding card-base cut out of Sweet Sugarplum cardstock. In order to attach the pocket with an opening at the top, I glued just along the sides and bottom.

Full Pocket Accessories

Making the money and sunglasses required stamping on Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the Money with Emerald Envy ink and then sponged the image allover with Pear Pizazz ink. Then I fussy cut out the image right on the outside lines. Then came the sunglasses, which I stamped in the new Berry Burst ink. This ink color stamps very rich and dark. I was unhappy with the contrast to the White cardstock. So I used the same color, Berry Burst and sponged all the white areas and voila! My Sunglasses looked like sunglasses. I also fussy cut out this image. I wish I had the Pocket framelits, then I could have cut these out with my Big Shot.

Details

Before I can glue the money and glasses in place, I need to stamp a few things. Using the Berry Burst ink I stamped the ‘A little pocket’ sentiment in the upper left of the card front.  Next I temporarily placed the sunglasses in the pocket to calculate the placement for the ‘For You’ sentiment. Once I knew my stamp placement, I removed the glasses and stamped the sentiment. Now it was time to stamp the grommets on the pocket and the four corners of the Dapper Denim. I used the about to retire Delightful Dijon ink for the grommets. I am not sure what I am going to use in another month when my only options are Crushed Curry or Cajun Craze to get a bass or bronze look. Any ideas?

I figured out my placement for the money roll and glasses and placed a single dimensional in the top underside of both to keep them in place and make pop up.

Finishing Touches

My final element on this card was the little tag on the side of the pocket. Using a scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock, I stamped the outline in Dapper Denim. It looks like a staple to me. I had to get insight from a friend as to what that stamp was for. I used another new In color, Fresh Fig to stamp the THX inside the tag outline.

Next I fussy cut out the tag and used 2 glue dots to adhere it in place and make it pop up on the outside edge. To get that effect, I rolled up one of the glue dots and placed it on the outer edge. Then I put another glue dot on top flat.

Hope you enjoyed this peek into one of the new 2017-18 Stamps and some of our new colors.
