When you need a quick gift or party favor jazz up a simple candy bar with a cute Candy Bar box. With all the cute Designer Paper available you can make your box fit any occasion. Almost everyone loves chocolate. You can make the packaging girly or masculine. Whenever you create a pretty box to hold your gift you give two gifts in one. I discovered the original box at a post by Pootles in the UK. I cased her box. Then I went shopping for a candy for the inside. Oops! Due to difference in sizing in the UK and the US stores all the candy bars i found were either too big or too small.
My first Candy bar box
For this first box I used Pootles measurements.
- Cut the Paper – 5-1/4 x 5″
- Score on the LONG side at 3/4, 2-1/4, 3, 4-1/2″
- Score on the SHORT side at 3/4, 4-1/4″
But despite the fun look with the Affectionately Yours DSP, the candy bars didn’t fit. Here you see my best bet. With a little bit of tissue paper it works but I wanted a better fit. So back to the drawing board.
My 2nd Candy Bar Box
For this box, I measured a standard single candy bar. I determined the measurements needed to make a box to fit.
- First cut the Paper or cardstock in this example to 5¾” x 5⅝″.
- Next Score on the LONG side at ⅞”,and 4⅞″.
- Then score on the SHORT side at ⅞”, 2⅜”, 3¼”, and 4¾″.
- Next use your bone folder to burnish all the score lines.
- Then cut up to the first score line on both sides as shown below.
At this point you are ready to fold up your box and glue the ends together. Then decorate and fill.
For this box I used stamps and washi tape to decorate the simple cardstock box.
A Fun size candy Bar Box
Finally I measured a Fun size candy bar. This size is bigger than the mini or snack size. But it still comes in a bag for a good price point if you are making a lot. In order to make this size follow the steps below:
- First cut the Paper to 3½” by 4¾”.
- Next Score on the SHORT side at ¾” and 2¾″.
- Then score on the LONG side at ¾”, 2″, 2¾”, and 4″.
- Next use your bone folder to burnish all the score lines.
- Then cut up to the first score line on both sides as shown in the previous box.
At this point you are ready to fold up your box and glue the ends together. Then decorate and fill. As you can see this is a perfect size for a two bite candy bar.
Also if you make it for a significant other you might point out that when the candy is gone it is the perfect size for a piece of small jewelry. Hint! Hint!
