Christmas Carols July 2017 Blog Hop

Christmas Carols

Welcome to Christmas Carols in July. This post is part of the Fun & Crafty Blog Hop For July 2017. Today I am showcasing the new Carols of Christmas stamp set. Rather than using a traditional color scheme this card uses blues and greens. I started by stamping the snowflake stamp in a random pattern in Night of Navy, Soft Sky and Smoky Slate. This creates a look of snow and texture at the same time. Next I attached a strip of Burlap ribbon across the lower panel at a diagonal. This adds a different type of texture.

In order to create the effect of snow on the tree, I sponged some Night of Navy ink onto the Always Artichoke die cut tree. Then I stippled Whisper White ink on the tree with a stencil brush. In order to emphasis the sentiment, I stamped it in Night of Navy ink on white added a Night of Navy mat. To make it pop I used Stampin’ Dimensional to raise it up. After I overlapped the tree on top of the sentiment, I used mini dimensionals to attach the Reindeer over both.

Christmas Carols another Peace on EarthChristmas Carols - 2

After I finished making my cards I realized all three use the Peace on Earth sentiment. For this card I attached the Be Merry Designer Series Paper to Whisper White cardstock as a base. Because I was casing a card by the Stampin’ Up Design Artists I ran in a problem early on. The Red Baker’s Twine in the card I was casing doesn’t exist. But I could see it there in the picture. In order to create the red twine, I grabbed some white baker’s twine and my Cherry Cobbler Ink pad and dyed the twine. Doing this means additional drying time but the result is worth it. Gold glimmer paper under the twine gives a different texture combo. I stamped the deer with Soft Suede ink on Whisper White. Then die cut him out. Using old olive cardstock I die cut the trees.

Finally the sentiment uses three inks – Garden Green, Old Olive, and Cherry Cobbler. After stamping the sentiment using masking, I die cut the circle using the largest stitched circle die.

Embossed Peace on Earth Christmas Carols

Christmas Carols - 3Last I created another case from Stampin Up. This card showcases the corner dies in the Carols of Christmas Bundle. The corner dies cut out peekaboo details in the designer paper. And then they die cut the real red poinsettias in the background. Finally I die cut the stamped poinsettias with the same die. In addition copper ribbon curls around under the sentiment element. Copper Embossing powder adds glitz to the sentiment. Random piercing on the sentiment piece lends a little texture.

I hope you have enjoyed my 3 cards all using the same designer paper, stamp set and dies. Hopefully you have a few new ideas from them.  In August, the new holiday Catalog will be available with all sorts of fun new products and ideas for the holidays. Are you ready to get a head start on your holiday cards?
